Yoga Alliance Teacher Training in India

A Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) is a title achieved by Yoga Teacher who has met Yoga Standards set by Yoga Alliance at a Registered Yoga School (RYS) at the 200-hour, 300-hour, and 500-hour levels.

To register in Yoga Alliance a school has to meet pre-requisite Yoga Alliance Standards which ensure whether its Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) follows.

the pre-defined curriculum offered by Yoga Alliance Standards or not. Also, the training must be given by qualified yoga teacher trainers.

Yoga Alliance Standards are:

i. 200-Hour Standards: Registered Yoga Schools That offer a 200-hour teacher training come under these standards. RYSs impart 200 hours of mandatory teacher training and supplement additional hours of training if it is required for the relevant category.

ii. 300-Hour Standards: Registered Yoga Schools under these standards offer a 300-hour advanced teacher training. As these are the advanced standards of study, hence 200-hour training is the foundation and must be provided by RYS. But it's up to RYSs either that they want to provide this training through RYS 200 or an RYS 500 track.

iii. 500-Hour Standards: These standards require 500-hour teacher training which must be related to five pre-defined educational categories of Yoga Alliance.

iv. Children’s Yoga Standards: A Registered Yoga School needs to offer a Children’s Yoga Training as described by Yoga Alliance. The curriculum of RCYS’s teacher training must follow the five educational categories of Yoga Alliance.

v. Prenatal Yoga Standards: Schools that offer Prenatal Yoga training that follows Yoga Alliance’s requirements and five educational categories. The curriculum for RPYS must be related to General Background in the Speciality Area.

If you want to join Yoga Alliance, you need to go to the Yoga Alliance’s official website i.e. www.yogaalliance.org and create an account. Fill your basic information carefully like name, email, and password. Click the designation you have completed and The dates of the training.

Find your RYS and the school where you completed your training. Upload a scanned copy of your certificate in a prescribed format. Confirm your Program Confirmation Request by clicking Send Request button.

Your request will be confirmed by your RYS management. After confirmation, you will be informed through email. Just complete your registration by logging in to your account and paying membership fees.

While an E RYT stands for Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher needs to teach for at least two years after the completion of training with Yoga Alliance.

Yoga Alliance provides RYT, ERYT, RYS, and YACEP designations. These credentials are internationally recognized and list you up in The RYT directory across the world.

Also, Yoga Alliance membership allows you to access free live workshops and a library of their recordings. They invite you to for the community events and meet-ups etc.

To become an RYT, completion of training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS) is a prerequisite at 200-hour, 300-hour, 500-hour level.

A registration fee is also applicable for the membership and credentials.

YACEP stands for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider and is only for experts in yoga.

To become YACEP, one must be an E-RYT qualified as YACEP designation is open only for them.
