Have no Attitude

Today I would like to bring up the topic of attitude. Not about having a positive attitude, not about the power of mind, but of the benefit of sometimes having no attitude. I have had an attitude towards things and people all my life.Attitude is something that helps shape both the ego (-) and our unique expression (+), so as we grow up we need to have an attitude. We need to decide where we’re going what we like, what we don’t like, to mold our lives into how we want it to be. If we don’t we…See More

Outkast

If I could turn back the clock one year, what would I do at this precise moment? I would have lunch at Krishna Cottage with some friends from my TTC, unknowing of what would lie ahead. The wonderful guys working in the kitchen would be carrying out pots and trays with steaming vegetables, dall and rice. Some students would sit in silence, contemplating Roshan’s philosophy lecture, others would be preparing for going down to Ganga for a bath or going shopping in Ram Jhula or Laxman Jhula.…See More

"Beautifully written and expressed.  This in fact is a 'small' miracle to me presently, as it mirrors and therefore affirms my own personal and current process.  Everything has moved fast for me in the past and slowing down…"

Living a Miraculous Life

What is the key to having a miraculous life? A life where we are constantly surprised by unexpected positive events or experiences? Miracles happen all the time, all over the world to every one of us, almost on a daily basis. There’s really nothing extraordinary about miracles, it just about whether we notice them or not. Whether we allow our mind to see the natural becoming supernatural and the supernatural becoming natural. It is in our mind that we determine what we should focus upon and what…See More

Immensity in the Undefined

It is said that love is oneness and everyone who has truly loved knows the feeling. I’m not talking about lust or romance but of real, deep love that has been through the journey of disappointment, anger, anger, sadness and come through to the other side with deeper understanding. Love becomes complicated because we confuse relationships with love and we always try to squeeze love into a relationship box and put a label on it, define it and rule it. But love cannot be defined, boxed or ruled……See More

Life goes on

Today I read a quote: ”In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learnt about life: It goes on”. This made me smile, because I agree. Whatever happens to us, life goes on. We may choose to linger in the past, lick our wounds and pamper our wounded pride… but life doesn’t care; like Ganga, she keeps on moving… and waits for no one. When I was younger and suffered from a broken heart or some other disappointment, my mum used to say that ”Honey, time heals all wounds” which at the time seemed…See More

Gurus, Faith & Destiny... Techniques to Surrender

As we proceed on the path of life, we are inevitably faced with the question of who or what is running this divine show. This is the starting point for all spiritual seekers: ”Who?” and ”Why”? and then ”How?”. If we don’t ask those question we cannot embark on a spiritual journey. Since I have been quite young, I’ve been to fortune tellers and since I came to India I have also visited astrologers, palm readers and psychics. I was desperate to know and yet frightened by the thought that my…See More

Entourage

Ever since I was little I have enjoyed being by myself and the only times I’ve felt lonely has been in a crowd of people, who I have been socially obligated to socialize with. But in the silence of my own company I’m never lonely although I may appear alone.

Many years ago, it became clear to me that…

The Unexpected Student

Yoga Teacher training India Last week I received a text message from the guy owning the yoga center where I work. It said:

”Jenny, tomorrow an elder lady will show up for your class…she’s a bit special… just wanted to let you know!”. I looked at my phone and thought: ”Great!... ”a bit special…?”. One day later, I reached the center more than half an hour before my class would start and while winding down with a cup of tea after my bicycle-ride there, I chatted to the receptionist.…

My business vs God's business

Yoga Teacher Training IndiaJenny… how many gallons of oil does it take to run a galaxy?”. My master is looking expectantly at me with blue eyes, playful as a child’s. I start laughing and he starts laughing as well. Why aren’t apples growing around Christmas? Why do flowers blossom when they do? I come to him with a head full of why and how and I always end up leaving with blissful ignorance. Some things are my business, my responsibility… other things are God’s business and God’s…
